Steering Control in a Flight Simulator Using ACT-R

Abstract

In this paper we describe a model of a take-off in simulated single-engine propeller aircraft, using ACT-R. The paper explores the use of iterative model stress-testing to explore the minimally sufficient productions and modules for the take-off task. This model explores the use of SGOMS to handle ‘semi-expected’ interruptions and the implementation of a motion detection vision system that uses simple computer vision to detect motion in the flight simulator.
